Skirt Switch Up

Alright, so I've already worn this skirt fairly recently...but I couldn't resist wearing it as a dress.
Arkansas is apparently experiencing a heat wave this week (you mean, it gets worse?).
The temperatures are to hit past 100. Bleh. Bare shoulders help, but I threw on the vest for coverage.

Ignore the nasty fire ant bite on my foot.
Instead, focus on the lovely sandals that I scored at Savers earlier this summer.
Vintage leather. Hunt Club. My size. All for a tune of a mere 3 bucks!

Skirt & Men's Vest, Goodwill// Belt, Wolfe Street//Sandals & Necklace, Savers//Feather Earrings, DIY

I wore this out yesterday for some Tokyo House with friends.
(Sushi buffet. Oh mah gawddd. It's amazing!)
Surprisingly, I did not pass out from a food coma as soon as I got back home.
The heat will make it hard for me not to give in to my daily uniform of cutoffs and a ratty t-shirt.

When can it cool down? I want layers!
Until next time, ♥.

Stripes and Pleats

Sunday's outfit. Didn't do anything in particular.
Spent the day watching soccer matches and trying my hand at knitting.

Found the tank in the little boy's section.
I originally wore it to climb Pinnacle a while back.

Skirt and tank, Savers// Necklace, estate sale// Oxfords, Steinmart
I bought the skirt way back last fall.
It was part of my Hogwarts uniform that I wore for the first half of the seventh film.
Who all went to the midnight premiere? FREAKING AWESOME.
Walking out of the theater, I realized that I just bid adieu to that final part of my childhood.
Crazy. I've been reading the books since the fourth grade!
Oh well, that is life.

Until next time, ♥.

Gypsy Garb

I decided to treat myself to some thrifting after a successful weekend at the Town Pump.
I have pictures from the first ever EtsyLR event, so those will be posted sometime soon.
(As you can tell, I keep dropping the ball when it comes to blogging)

I've been working on various small projects that I've been meaning to do for ages.
For example, yesterday I went to a knitting/ice cream social and learned how to knit!
Mind you, not very well...but it's a start.

Skirt & Hat, Goodwill// Wedges, Savers// Wolf Tank, XXI
So about this outfit: I discovered the skirt (half off!) at Goodwill.
I've been wanting to try out the longer lengths and decided to give this one a whirl.
It's kind of sheer which requires me to have some bike shorts on underneath.
I can also hike it up and belt it for an instant dress! You've got to love multi-purpose garments.

I'm close to selling out of merchandise on Etsy! I really need to do a shop update.
First, I need to find the time. Ahhhh, summer.

Until next time, ♥.

Some Necessary Remixing

I've been on a self-imposed shopping ban this summer.
Thrifting has been at the bottom of my priorities.
Ah, bills. Ah, responsibilities. Ahhh, adulthood.
Anyways, it just means that I have to be a little more creative with my closet!
Of course, this leads to some interesting outfit remixes.

Blouse, Salvation Army//Dress, H&M in Spain//Shoes, Savers
All last week (and part of this week) was spent doing worksite evaluations for my job.
These visits require me to dress appropriately (or risk not being taken seriously).
Okay, so many my dresses are slightly on the short side, but at least I'm not wearing my cut-offs!
Part of me really enjoys trying to figure out fresh combinations with already-loved pieces...
but then again, I really want to attack the thrift haunts to my little heart's content. Sighhh.

Anybody have some good get-rich-quick-schemes that they'd like to enlighten me on?
Until next time, ♥.

Skrillex on a Sunday

Okay, okay...so I realize last Sunday was Father's Day...
But all I could think about was this Skrillex set that I've known about for months.
The Boy introduced me to Skrillex way back when we were first talking and well, I was hooked!
This is what I decided to wear. In hindsight, a loose tank would have been much better.
At least I switched from my kilty loafers to these more practical sneakers.

Image c/o Arkansas Online
I found this image online documenting some of the nonsense going on at the event.
Can you see me? Can you spot The Boy?
It's like a groady version of Where's Waldo.
By the end of it all, I was absolutely drenched but incredibly pleased.
Dancing is my medicine.

Here's a taste of what Skrillex sounds like.
He just released the video this week!
Fresh off the press.

Altered Shorts, Savers//Sneakers, Target//Shirt, Mango in Spain//
Headscarf, Estate Sale//Necklace, Estate Sale
This is my model pout.
This is why I am not a model.
Nice try though, eh?

Until next time, ♥.

Arrow Up, Arrow Down

Shirt and Cardigan, Goodwill//Skirt, Savers//Earrings, Foodchaindesigns via Mother's Day Sale
I mostly feel like showing off my awesome earrings bought at our Mother's Day Sale.
So yeah, I'm not a mom...but it was my birthday, so I felt my purchase was justified.

Have a nice weekend.
Until next time, ♥.

Spotted in Business Casual

Loafers, Savers//Dress and Blouse, Goodwill//Bambi pin, Carrie's Flea Market
My work mainly involved me working from the comforts of my home, but last week had me doing stuff at the office. I couldn't get away with roaming around in just a t-shirt and knickers!
So, this is what I wore, layering a blouse underneath a dress to give the appearance of a jumper.

Ruh-roh. I forgot to fix the flap.
That explains why one shoe is not like the other.

Stripes and dots. Dots and stripes.
I guess it works. Now to figure out what I'll wear to today's meeting.

Until next time, ♥.

Lounge Lizard

Floral top, Salvation Army//Shorts, necklace & headscarf, Savers
A glimpse of my toes.
A glimpse of my new living room.
A glimpse of what I wear to lounge around, waiting for something to do.

A glimpse at my new record player, a birthday gift from The Boy.
It sits atop a lovely vintage wooden school desk scored from my local Habitat ReStore.
He also bought me the Postal Service's album, "Give Up." Currently, I own just two albums.
According to him, I am now the ULTIMATE hipster. (Goody, goody.)

Here's to another summer weekend.

Until next time, ♥.

Stylish Sleep Cycles

Skirt, Wolfe Street//Top, Savers//Necklace, Estate Sale
Oxfords, Steinmart//Hairpiece, DIY//Belt, Goodwill
Here's what I wore last Friday. I didn't go anywhere special.
Ended up going to my parent's place to sleep for 3 hours.
Then went back home just to go to bed.
I've been sleeping a lot lately, but I'm not complaining.
A snooze here and there is greatly appreciated.

This is a hairpiece that I decided to keep for myself after it didn't sell during a Mother's Day sale that the League of Extraordinary Metalsmiths. It reminds me that I need to get my craft on for another sale taking place here in LR sometime in July. Pretty exciting stuff!

On Memorial Day, I decided to take a look around knowing that there'd be sales.
For some reason, I felt like going to Steinmart. I never go to Steinmart.
I'm glad I went to Steinmart. I found these taupe beauties on clearance for a mere 20 bucks!

Until next time, ♥.

Friday Nights are for Dancin'

Here's another dress from my TJ Maxx mini "shopping-spree."
Only, this one isn't nearly as short as the previous one.
Anyways, I wore this last Friday to the 3-year anniversary of Cool Shoes.
It's a monthly dance party here in Little Rock.
It's interesting to see what some people choose to wear to these things.
Most times, "interesting" is simply a euphemism.
I'll just leave it at that.

Dress, TJ Maxx// Oxfords & Belt, Goodwill//Earrings, Samson's Bean
Okay, I swear I'm not a giant. I guess it's the camera angle. Or maybe it's the couch.
Anyways, I danced my little heart out and paid dearly for it the next day. And the day after that.
I raged way too hard that night. I feel old. Or out of shape.

I'm pretty much recovered now. Just in time for the next Cool Shoes!
Kidding...I don't have the faintest idea when the next one will take place.

Until next time, ♥.

Memorial Day

My Memorial Day had a very slow start.
I decided my morning to early afternoon was best spent finishing Slaughterhouse-Five.
Then I hit up both local Savers for their 50% off sale. Coincidentally, I ran into The Boy's mother during my second round of scouring Savers. Good to know that she's a fellow thrifter!

I also went to Steinmart.
I never go to Steinmart.
I'm glad I went to Steinmart.

About my outfit, the dress was bought during a recent "spree" at TJ Maxx.
It's incredibly short. No wonder the label is called Tramp. Hah!
I was trying to go for a subtle "Americana" color-scheme because of the holiday and all.
I don't know if anyone caught on...but I probably won't wear the dress again.

Dress, TJ Maxx// Shoes, Target//Kids Denim Jacket & belt, Goodwill//
Headscarf, Savers//Necklace, Estate sale
The rest of my day was spent with The Boy and his parents watching Star Wars.
And eating. I hope they don't think me a moocher!
Oh, I'll share my booty sometime later this week.
Fun finds for my new diggs and so many shoes!

Until next time, ♥.

The Outfit I Forgot About

Cream Lace Dress, XXI//Boy's Blazer, My Favorite Thrift Store//Kilty Oxfords, ChicasVintage
Fawn Brooch, Carrie's Fleamarket// Earrings, Target// Watercolor Headscarf, Estate Sale
Just before my unexpected hiatus from the cybersphere, I took some outfit photos.
These are the last outfit photos to be taken in my apartment.
I bought the dress during a moment of weakness when I was trying to find the boy a striped shirt.
It's cute, but incredibly short. Thus, bike shorts underneath are always in order.

Though I lived with three others, I was the only one that ever bought fresh fruit on a regular basis.
That reminds me...now that I've got table and chairs, I ought to buy groceries.
I've been on a serious mooching spree! It's kind of pathetic.

I guess I'll spend my day trying to get my place together.
Or doing some stuff for work.
But first! A shower.

Until next time, ♥.

Verticals & Horizontals

Oxfords, Goodwill $4. Such a steal!
Love love love these shoes.
I scored them about 2 or 3 summers ago, when oxfords were still pretty obscure footwear.
So obscure, they sat in my closet for a long time because I was baffled with how to style them.
Anyways, I've since found replacements for them, only out of fear of wearing them to shreds.
I must have been blessed by the gods of thrift that day because I found a hoard of shoes for myself.
Someone with an awesome shoe collection (in my size) must have donated to Goodwill.
Ah, that rarely happens...which only makes it that much more amazing when it does!

Coral Cardigan and Ruffle Shirt, Savers//Oxfords, Goodwill//Pin&Brooch, Gift
Hemmed Striped Skirt, Starr's Moving Sale
I only look moody because I just woke up. Promise.
Besides, this is about the outfit right?
Plus, I don't want to accidentally make a duckface.

The semester's quickly winding down. Too quickly.
I'm having to juggle pending deadlines in academia with adult matters, like utilities.
It's stressful, but come summertime...I know it will all be worth it!
Let's just hope I make it.

Until next time, ♥.

Dressed for (Renter's) Success

Bambi pin, Carrie's Flea Market// Feather Dangle Earrings, DIY
I wore this to look at potential houses a week or so ago.
I'm incredibly determined to get my own place before semester's end.
Fortunately, we've already secured a place and will begin moving in next month!
Such a relief. Now I get to do grown up things like pay utilities.
Though, I must admit...I'm looking more forward to decorating!

Jeggings, TJ Maxx//Loafers, Chica Vintage on Etsy// Peasant Blouse, Goodwill//
Lil'Boys Navy Blazer, My Favorite Thrift Store//Headscarf, Midtowne Antique Mall
I finally had the chance to debut this jacket! I've been scouring the thrift haunts for the perfect boy blazer, always finding ones that are too big in the shoulders. The warmer weather allowed me to get away with just wearing this jacket. Let's hope the trend continues!

Until next time, ♥.

An Enameling First.

Hey now! It's a first for me, at least...
We just finished up the metals assignment in my Crafts class,
which only solidified my desire to continue into metals/ jewelry-making.
Pretty exciting stuff!
Anyways, we learned how to enamel last week.
I went into the studio during my free time just to play around with the enameling.
(I even showed up late to a Scholars class because I was waiting for my metal to cool!)
Here's the very first pair of earrings that I made with my new enameling skills.
They were once just plain old copper washers, now transformed into a pair of earrings!

Cardigan, Savers//Dress, Leotard, & Booties, Goodwill//Locket, Hidden Treasures
Enameled Copper Washer Earrings, DIY!
Unfortunately, I had to turn them in this week for a grade...along with the other two pairs that I made.
Hopefully I'll get them back soon because I'm really itching to flaunt them around.
In the meantime, I've bought my own copper washers for future transformation purposes.
Let's just see if I can muster the time and energy to play around some more in the studio!

Until next time, ♥.

Toughen Up the Denim Jumper

Hemmed Denim Jumper, Silk Blouse, and Boots, Goodwill//
Watercolor Headscarf, Estate Sale//Belt, Junktique Sale

Welcome new readers!
Here's a quickie outfit post for all you lovelies (new and old) out there.
I wore this to our last Donaghey Scholars dinner, potluck style.
The jumper was sitting in Samson's Bean forever and never got sold...so naturally I took it back.
I attempted to toughen a pretty girly look with black tights and my go-to black booties.
Expect to see the jumper more once the weather decides to stay spring-like permanently.

Also, don't forget to enter my blogoversary giveaway!
You just need to be a follower of my blog and comment on the giveaway post.
Be sure to tell your friends. It's easy!

DANGER: High Voltage

skirt, goodwill//boots and cardigan, savers//necklace, Starr's Moving Sale//
Tights and kneehighs, TJ Maxx//Lace Tank, H&M in Spain//Leopard Headscarf, Gift
Silly little me is obviously losing it.
I've been staying at my parent's for Spring Break because it's convenient for my week-long gig.
I left photos on blog posts ready to be narrated and whatnot and well, I forgot.
So, today's post went up with zero commentary...RAWR!
My apologies. Honestly, I don't even remember when I wore this. Sometime last week. Saturday, perhaps?
But hey! You can see how I decorate my room a little, including stolen (ahem, borrowed) construction signs.

I rescued this lovely necklace from Starr's moving sale that she had recently.
The colors are lovely. Just perfect. Wow, I really
don't have much to say.
Hmmm...but do stay tuned for tomorrow!
'Tis a special day for my lil'gimpy blog and we need to celebrate.
Just saying. Keep an eye out.

Until next time, ♥.

Nail Biter.

Floral dress & Cardi, Goodwill//Socks, Burlington Coat Factory//Shoes, ChicasVintage//
Headscarf, Estate Sale//Necklace, Morikaty
Notice the lack of tights?
Spring is just about here and the weather is acting in accordance!
I almost went bare-legged, but decided to compromise with knee highs instead.
You can never trust Arkansas weather and I also didn't feel like blinding anyone with my paleness.
I love love love my kilty-oxford-loafer hybrids! They add just the right amount of school girl lass to any outfit.
I mean, who doesn't like dressing like a school girl?

I bought this necklace a while back with funds made from my very first Etsy sale.
It's a baby sewing machine and button. Unlike my clothespin necklace, the sewing machine is not functional.
Oh, but that'd be so precious! And convenient too!

Until next time, ♥.

Gold That Ain't Gaudy.

Bodysuit, H&M Spain//Vest, Goodwill//Hemmed Skirt and Belt, Wolfe Street//
Tights, UO//Boots, Ebay//Uniform Socks, Chile//Eskuche Headphones via 80s Purple
Continuing yesterday's audiophile theme, check out my headphones!
The  splurge of the semester were these Eskuche rose-gold headphones via 80s Purple.
I justified this small reward because I knew I'd get my money's worth.
You see, I always listen to my iPod as I make my way to class.
Also, my prior earbuds probably made it appear as though I was ignoring friends,
when I was simply engrossed by whatever I had in rotation at the moment.
I kind of have a thing for music.

At least now people will see these and know that I am not intentionally ignoring them?
And they're the most perfect shade of gold, just dark enough not to be obnoxiously gaudy.

And, not only do they look good...but they sound great!
Who says you can't listen to music and look good whilst doing it?

Until next time, ♥.
