Gypsy Garb

I decided to treat myself to some thrifting after a successful weekend at the Town Pump.
I have pictures from the first ever EtsyLR event, so those will be posted sometime soon.
(As you can tell, I keep dropping the ball when it comes to blogging)

I've been working on various small projects that I've been meaning to do for ages.
For example, yesterday I went to a knitting/ice cream social and learned how to knit!
Mind you, not very well...but it's a start.

Skirt & Hat, Goodwill// Wedges, Savers// Wolf Tank, XXI
So about this outfit: I discovered the skirt (half off!) at Goodwill.
I've been wanting to try out the longer lengths and decided to give this one a whirl.
It's kind of sheer which requires me to have some bike shorts on underneath.
I can also hike it up and belt it for an instant dress! You've got to love multi-purpose garments.

I'm close to selling out of merchandise on Etsy! I really need to do a shop update.
First, I need to find the time. Ahhhh, summer.

Until next time, ♥.

Beastly.

By no means am I a regular coffee-drinker, but my readings this semester tend to lull me to sleep.
I wanted a substantial mug, and awesome one that didn't need constant refills.
I saw this one at my parent's house before moving back in and had to have it.
When I asked, my mom sounded hesitant and I quickly gave up...
I didn't want to be the one to break some family heirloom.
Really, I didn't want a careless roommate or guest breaking it.

This cup is beastly. This cup is special.
This cup belonged to my grandfather.
Just thinking about it makes me giggle. I feel like such a badass when I drink from it.
It just sat in the cupboard, put out of use.
Now it resides happily with me, allowing me to stay somewhat coherent.

Oi! Left over yums from Friday...I think they're all gone now, only to be replaced by CUPCAKES.
Why must my roomie tempt me so?

I wore this on Saturday. It's my first attempt at wearing leggings as pants. Comfy, casual, yet "artsy"...
perfect for a day spent scouring Salvation Army, the Arkansas Art Center, and the Central Library.
I felt so accomplished by the end of it all. I should do that more often.

Alone.

Classes are in full swing. Of course, that means the mountains of readings have been assigned...leaving me holed up in my room like a true hermit. I'm not quite sure where my other suitemates are, but that just leaves me here, all alone, in the apartment...free to take outfit photos that are somewhat decent.
I scored the sweet couch from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore Shop for a mere ten bucks.
Perfect for anyone looking for a place to crash for the night.
Even though a good bit of my weekend was spent reading, I did manage to escape for ShirtTails at Hendrix. There's nothing like watching a bunch of awkward young'uns doing their best to shake what their mother gave them.

Peruvian Pan Flute.

I wasn't the only one to go abroad this summer. My friend recently got back from giving a presentation at a conference in Peru. We've had this running joke about pan flutes for a while now, and the "rivalry" between Peru and Chile certainly helps too. He came over yesterday with my gift. My mind totally blanked when he told me to guess. I mean, the shape was definitely obvious...but I probably over-analyzed it. I felt really dumb after I opened it.
But yeah! I have a pan flute, a Peruvian pan flute...for my Chilean band?

The lil' one, in all it's Peruvian glory.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing...

Sketchbook Diaries: Discovered.

My mom discovered these small sketches amongst a pile of papers the other day.
These were done during a shift at Half of Half, probably last winter.

I drew on the last strip of paper from one of the machines.
The bright purple indicates that it's time for a new roll.
It also indicates double-doodle time!

I was drawing things that I saw in the store, but then I was bored and drew this odd one.
I don't know what my deal is with butts...but I love'em.
Gangly, grotesque, slightly fatigued...but a big butt is still intact.

I guess I should go back to my reading now.
Until next time, ♥.

Dainty Feathers

School's back in session and with it, the return of long hours spent reading/studying/procrastinating.
I feel bad about neglecting the blog, but honestly...there isn't a whole lot to say.
I could do outfit posts, but this heats sucks all the creativity out of me...leaving me wearing some pretty "blah" outfits.
Autumn can't get here any quicker!
And, the shopping ban is still in effect (though I'm tempted to thrift for shorts...I NEED THEM!)
I did have the garage sale last weekend and I am proud to report that I finally have some financial stability in my life. The night before the sale was spent pricing items, but I did stop to make some small crafts. I knew I couldn't sell my headbands, but I thought these smaller feather hairpins could sell. I whipped up five (photographed none!) and sold two the following day. I sold them for five bucks a pop.

I've been planning to make these for a while now, but just never got around to it.
They weren't very difficult to make once I figured out a system that didn't leave the whole thing a sticky, unwearable mess.

Each one was placed on half an index card, a modest presentation tactic.

And, of course, I kept one for myself.
They're not too fussy, yet they add a nice touch to any outfit.

I recently remembered the existence of this necklace and how much I adore it.
So naturally, I've worn it everyday. The little clothespin works!

Oh hey there, crappy mirror shot.
My little feathers make it appear as though I have a wicked cowlick. Nice.
Check out the Lollapalooza garb!

Until next time, ♥.

Finally, I Made Something (Some Things?)

I'm in the middle of packing up all of my belongings in order to return to my apartment on campus. And let me just say, it is no easy task! I didn't realize how much CRAP I've managed to hoard in such a short amount of time.
(Thus, the shopping ban will still be in effect...perhaps into next month as well!)
Namely, it's clothes...but my craft boxes are also quickly filling up and well, I have absolutely nothing to show for it.
So, in the middle of all of my chaos, I decided to put my crafty hands to work.
The end result? Two new pairs of earrings and a slightly elevated frame of mind!

The first pair, shown above, was fashioned from some chain, some feather, some wire, and little gold leaves salvaged from the gaudiest of earrings! I already wore them yesterday when I surfaced from my cave of  darkness to visit my aunt.
I've had these babies in mind for quite some time now but just got around to their execution.
The tassels were originally joined together, meant to tie back a curtain or something like that.
Now they've become a shoulder sweeping pair of gaudiness.
(Seriously, they may be too much for me...I'll give them a chance but I already have someone in mind to "gift" them to!)

I feel slightly better now.
However, I've begun packing up my clothes (can someone say nauseating?), purging as much as I can in the process. I'll be making another trip to consignment and I even listed a few items on my Etsy today! I forgot how much work goes into listing things online! JEEEZ. I just about gave up. Oh, and hopefully I can get around to having a garage sale.
After so much fun this summer, I seriously need the monies.
Oh, the life of a hustler.
Until next time, ♥

EXCITING! Just as I was finishing up this post...SOMEONE BOUGHT SOMETHING! Oh my word.

Post-Lolla 2010: Unveiling of the Photos

Now that Lolla 2010 is said and done, I'm back home in the humidity of Arkansas choosing to stay inside (working on some crafts!) and neglecting what needs to be packed up by Saturday. That being said, here are some photos from Lollapalooza, some taken by me...others by my fellow comrades.

Group shot! Taken by Page. We still look half-way decent because we're still in front of the hotel.

This was a candid shot taken by Page. I'm that lil'bitty person with my Spanish leather backpack!

The necessities, the simple "bear" neccessities.
Water bottle to be filled up ever so often at the many filling stations, huge thrifted scarf used to protect our bums from the dirty ground, and my backpack stuffed with other goodies, like sunscreen, smuggled granola bars and starbursts candy. Grabbing the ubiquitous fan is also helpful to combat the heat!

Until next time, ♥.

Lolla Line Up: Day Three

I know the last day of Lollapalooza was Sunday, but due to unusual circumstances (I conked out)
and all of Monday spent in a car...I am just now getting to update.
Now I'm in recovery mode, as in, I just decided to throw some clothes on
(consisting of ripped, baggy jeans and my new Lolla 2010 shirt).
I am the epitome of lazy.

I'll try and be more productive tomorrow, if weather permits.
Until next time, ♥.
