Gypsy Garb

 I decided to treat myself to some thrifting after a successful weekend at the Town Pump.
I have pictures from the first ever EtsyLR event, so those will be posted sometime soon.
(As you can tell, I keep dropping the ball when it comes to blogging)

 I've been working on various small projects that I've been meaning to do for ages.
For example, yesterday I went to a knitting/ice cream social and learned how to knit!
Mind you, not very well...but it's a start.

Skirt & Hat, Goodwill// Wedges, Savers// Wolf Tank, XXI
So about this outfit: I discovered the skirt (half off!) at Goodwill.
I've been wanting to try out the longer lengths and decided to give this one a whirl.
It's kind of sheer which requires me to have some bike shorts on underneath.
I can also hike it up and belt it for an instant dress! You've got to love multi-purpose garments.

I'm close to selling out of merchandise on Etsy! I really need to do a shop update.
First, I need to find the time. Ahhhh, summer.

Until next time, ♥.

Spotted in Business Casual

Loafers, Savers//Dress and Blouse, Goodwill//Bambi pin, Carrie's Flea Market
My work mainly involved me working from the comforts of my home, but last week had me doing stuff at the office. I couldn't get away with roaming around in just a t-shirt and knickers!
So, this is what I wore, layering a blouse underneath a dress to give the appearance of a jumper.

Ruh-roh. I forgot to fix the flap.
That explains why one shoe is not like the other.

Stripes and dots. Dots and stripes.
I guess it works. Now to figure out what I'll wear to today's meeting.

Until next time, ♥.

Memorial Day

My Memorial Day had a very slow start.
I decided my morning to early afternoon was best spent finishing Slaughterhouse-Five.
Then I hit up both local Savers for their 50% off sale. Coincidentally, I ran into The Boy's mother during my second round of scouring Savers. Good to know that she's a fellow thrifter!

I also went to Steinmart.
I never go to Steinmart.
I'm glad I went to Steinmart.

About my outfit, the dress was bought during a recent "spree" at TJ Maxx.
It's incredibly short. No wonder the label is called Tramp. Hah!
I was trying to go for a subtle "Americana" color-scheme because of the holiday and all.
I don't know if anyone caught on...but I probably won't wear the dress again.

Dress, TJ Maxx// Shoes, Target//Kids Denim Jacket & belt, Goodwill//
Headscarf, Savers//Necklace, Estate sale
The rest of my day was spent with The Boy and his parents watching Star Wars.
And eating. I hope they don't think me a moocher!
Oh, I'll share my booty sometime later this week.
Fun finds for my new diggs and so many shoes!

Until next time, ♥.

Verticals & Horizontals

Oxfords, Goodwill $4. Such a steal!
Love love love these shoes.
I scored them about 2 or 3 summers ago, when oxfords were still pretty obscure footwear.
So obscure, they sat in my closet for a long time because I was baffled with how to style them.
Anyways, I've since found replacements for them, only out of fear of wearing them to shreds.
I must have been blessed by the gods of thrift that day because I found a hoard of shoes for myself.
Someone with an awesome shoe collection (in my size) must have donated to Goodwill.
Ah, that rarely happens...which only makes it that much more amazing when it does!

Coral Cardigan and Ruffle Shirt, Savers//Oxfords, Goodwill//Pin&Brooch, Gift
Hemmed Striped Skirt, Starr's Moving Sale
 I only look moody because I just woke up. Promise.
Besides, this is about the outfit right?
Plus, I don't want to accidentally make a duckface.

The semester's quickly winding down. Too quickly.
I'm having to juggle pending deadlines in academia with adult matters, like utilities.
It's stressful, but come summertime...I know it will all be worth it!
Let's just hope I make it.

Until next time, ♥.

Quirky School Lass

Print blouse, Goodwill//Red Skirt, Zara in Spain//Boots, Ebay//
Peter Pan Collar Blouse, Urban Outfitters
 Clearly, I should not take outfit photos before completely waking up.
Try not to hone in on the sleepy eyes, but rather focus on the outfit!
I've actually had this gem planned for at least a week and finally decided to wear it.
Needless to say, I think it's a success.
Part school girl, part crayon box, part quirk.

 These boots have been sitting in my closet all winter.
I recently "rediscovered" them only to have the heels peel off.
Oh, my dear vintage and your flaws!
I used Shoe-Goo to glue them back in place...but I didn't wait long enough for it to cure?
Then again, I'm definitely no cobbler.

By this point, it seems like my eyes are finally awake.
Thank goodness! It would've made for quite the pathetic close up.

Until next time, ♥.

Ikat Spatula Beginnings

 The weather was deceptive this past weekend.
It tricked me into thinking that the lovely Spring-like temperatures would continue into this week.
Nope, not at all. Not even slightly. I was freezing today. Silly ol' me!
A few alterations will have to be made before my 4:30pm class this evening.

High-waisted jeans, Savers//Oxfords, Goodwill//Floral Swimsuit, Savers//
Cardigan, Savers//Beanie, Burlington Coat Factory
 My jeans are covered in sawdust and I probably reek of burnt wood.
And what do I have to show for it? A spatula. Yes, a spatula. I made it!
Actually, it's still a work in process...but I figured I'd show it off instead of changing out my jeans.

 I decided not to get creative with the spatula's form, seeking to focus more on its embellishments.
I kind of wish I had decided to get creative with the form. I forget that I'm no good at drawing.
Anyways, I was inspired by a diamond Ikat design, which I then burned into the wood.
Next class, I'll probably paint it and try not to ruin the burnt aspect.

 Oh hey, this spatula also doubles as a prop!
A prop for making funny faces.

Looking up towards the Spatula gods, hoping for a successful finished product!

Until next time, ♥.

Continued Kiddie Styling

 I opted to pile on all of my trusty basics for my single class today.
I'm pretty stoked to take Crafts, any newbies will quickly learn that I am quite a fan.
Our first assignment is to rehandle a tool, like a toilet plunger. Should be pretty interesting.

Navy striped girl's dress, Goodwill//Cashmere cardigan, Goodwill//Beanie, Dollar Tree//Taupe skinny belt, Wolfe Street//
Knee-Highs & Tights, TJ Maxx//Boots, Ebay//Tassle Earrings, Spain//Scarf, Mom-Knitted
 I want to say this child's dress shrunk some in the wash,
but then again it's been awhile since I've worn it.
I may just be in denial about its true length.
Thus, bike shorts are worn underneath as insurance against any bum-flashes!

Two days straight of wearing clothes from the kid's section, because I can!
With all of this new-found free time, I told myself I'd tend to Samson's Bean and my Etsy.
We'll just see how successful I am.

Until next time, ♥.

Sixties Sherlock

 Here's a dress originally meant for Samson's Bean, but I decided to keep it for myself.
For now, at least. I'm prone to changing my mind when it comes to wardrobe choices.
Although, I do love everything about it.
The dress also has the tiniest of burn holes, I'm sure that makes it virtually impossible to sell.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I cinched in my waist with my favorite taupe snakeskin belt, thrifted of course.
Topping it all off with my trusty trench, I called it a day.
 I haven't worn a dress in quite some time, so it felt nice to put in the extra effort.
That same day I did a booth update and lounged around at my parent's place.
Thus, the change in scenery. This was taken near the kitchen, I had to crop out the fridge!

 This same day, I met The Boy's parents. What a great day to decide to dress up!
I think I made a good first impression. I mean, mom complimented my shoes!
I will take that to be a good sign.

2011 is turning out to be quite a splendid year!
There's so much to be excited about.

Ultra Soft.

Altered silk blouse, Goodwill//Black jeggings, TJ Maxx//Boots, Savers//Oatmeal Cashmere Cardigan, Goodwill//
Assorted necklaces, thrifted & DIY
 I found the greatest printed silk shirt...with the goofiest sleeves.
Fortunately, it was nothing a minor alteration couldn't fix.
But unfortunately, dummy me never took off the cardigan.

I actually wore this Sunday to Samson's Bean when I was updating the booth with new merch.
 Until I wear it again, you'll just have to imagine the greatness that lies within.
Oh, and the print is also washed out. FAIL. Look below for a detail shot!
Isn't the print just lovely? Now, I'm not the biggest fan of pink...but this one is just so soft.
Pairing it with my awesome thrifted cashmere cardigan was such a great decision!

Until next time, ♥.

All Wrapped Up.

 I kept things simple this year.
Pretty sure I burned myself out last year trying to find multiple "perfect" gifts.
And, I think Christmas totally snuck up on me...tricky, tricky holiday!

 Gifts to friends were delivered yesterday.
I'm so ready to just chill, catch up on the blogosphere, and get fat (again!).
Should make for a nice holiday, though first I need to get some things ready for the booth.
It's already starting to look a little scarce and I'm sure people may come in to spend Christmas monies!

I found myself a skeleton key in a totally rad antique mall while I was in Austin!

->Cream Silk Blouse, Goodwill
->Homemade Leopard Print Skirt, Goodwill
->Skeleton Key, Uncommon Objects
->Red Cardigan, Half of Half
->Oxfords, Goodwill
->Plaid Scarf worn in hair, Gift from Mango
->Ring, ebay

Happy Holidays! Hope you have a good one.

Piece by Piece

 Piece by piece, you'll get a picture of what I wore today.
The dress I've had for ages, yet this is my first time wearing it.
It's a cute long-sleeved tent dress I scored for less than a buck.
I believe it was during my sole adventure to an outdoor fleamarket in Beebe.
Or some other place out in the boonies.

navy dress, outdoor flea market/cozy cardigan, goodwill/slouchy boots, ebay/
shell necklace, estate sale/beanie, gifted/sweatertights, tj maxx
 My new boots in action! I've already scuffed them up something fierce.
I guess it adds to their charm?

I practically live in this beanie. My friend Mango made it for my birthday.
Due to the swoosh in my bangs, I'm probably up for a haircut.
But for now, I have a term paper to beast. Wish me luck!

Until next time, ♥.

Thrift Scores!

I can't help but gush about my latest thrift scores.
Silly ol' me just included shoes because well, I LOVE SHOESSSS!
(Especially when they fit.)
Etienne Aigner Oxford Grannies, Midtowne
Alas, these lovelies are much too small, so they'll be put up in the ol' Etsy shop soon.
I am already jealous of whoever ends up buying these!
Butternut Brown 80s Boots, Ebay
 These are mine! I recently won these on Ebay. In fact, I just received them in the mail yesterday.
Of course, that meant I had to give them a whirl today!
Absolutely perfect for the cold weather.
Cognac Woven Leather Oxfords, Goodwill
These cuties are too small. Watch for their debut on the Etsy.
I found these when I was sourcing pieces for my Hogwarts-esque outfit for the Midnight showing.
Yes, I dressed up. Yes, I was there at 8:30pm for the Midnight showing. Yes, I geeked out the entire time.
If you didn't already know, I'm a MEGA-dork.
G.H Bass & Co. Two-Tone Oxfords
Last, but not least, I found these when I was sourcing materials for my last 3D-Design Project.
They're in pristine condition anddd MY SIZE! Though, these babies will just have to wait for Spring.
I can't waittttt!

Scored anything awesome lately?
Until next time, ♥.

Do Away With Clutter.

 A roomie's doing homework on the couch and besides, the usual photo-spot has been compromised by a big black chair. No worries, we had room-checks yesterday and I want to show off my cleaned space.
I took some pictures pre-clean up but those won't be shown; way too embarrassing!

This is the first time I'm wearing these earrings.
I bought them in Spain for a Euro, but thought they were too gaudy for everyday wear.
Now I think I'm in love, though they're surprisingly heavy!
So, my lobes are a bit stretched out. Ruh-roh.

 Oh, and I ordered this pullover from Threadless about two weeks ago, but this is also my first time wearing it. LOVE!

 Even though I tend to bitch about the monthly room-checks, I must admit that I like having the excuse to clean up shop. Somehow my room manages to accumulate clutter over the course of the week.
I spent all of yesternight tidying up. For that, I am in much better spirits.
 Clothes are on hangers and somewhat organized by type of garment.
There are too many prints to organize by color!

And my shoes. I love shoes.
There's not enough room for all of them, thus the awkward stacking.
Mehhh.

Let's hope I can maintain this level of cleanliness, it's working wonders for my well-being!
Until next time, ♥.

Down the Rabbit Hole.

 So Sunday my friend and I came across an estate sale that wouldn't open until 2pm,
thus we decided to kill time at a nearby Goodwill and Irish Pub.
I only bought three items, but they just so happen to work very nicely together.
Score? Mega-score!

 I am particularly fond of my newly acquired 100% Cashmere gramps-cardi.
I found it in the men's section!
Case in point: don't limit your thrifting to the ladies section.

Here's a closeup of my necklace.
D'awh! It's the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
Scored this one at the antique mall on Saturday for a dollar.
Score!

 I think the three items from Goodwill totaled around 10 bucks, not too shabby!
The lace shirt is scalloped, but hiding underneath the cardi and the floral-paisley pleated skirt.
The skirt didn't need to be hemmed.
I'm trying my best not to buy things that need alterations...because they usually sit in my closet.
Speaking of, I need to do alterations!

->Lace T-shirt, Goodwill
->Pleated Skirt, Goodwill
->Cashmere Cardigan, Goodwill
->White Rabbit Necklace, Midtowne Antique Mall
->Granny Fringe Black Boots, Ebay
->Beige Snakeskin Waistbelt, Wolfe Street
->Burgundy Beret, Gift

Until next time, ♥.
