Recent Thrift Haunt Finds

 Here's a few of my thrift haunts finds that I scored at the 50% off sale at Savers on Memorial Day.
The best part? They're all my size!

 It's incredibly difficult to find cute vintage shoes in my size.
You see, I have big feet (when it comes to vintage sizing).

 Anyways, it's always nice to find a hoard of shoes in your size.
It also helps if they have an additional 50% off.

A fairly successful thrift haul, if I might say so myself.

Happy weekend, lovelies!
Until next time, ♥.

DANGER: High Voltage

skirt, goodwill//boots and cardigan, savers//necklace, Starr's Moving Sale//
Tights and kneehighs, TJ Maxx//Lace Tank, H&M in Spain//Leopard Headscarf, Gift
Silly little me is obviously losing it.
I've been staying at my parent's for Spring Break because it's convenient for my week-long gig.
I left photos on blog posts ready to be narrated and whatnot and well, I forgot.
So, today's post went up with zero commentary...RAWR!
My apologies. Honestly, I don't even remember when I wore this. Sometime last week. Saturday, perhaps?
But hey! You can see how I decorate my room a little, including stolen (ahem, borrowed) construction signs.

I rescued this lovely necklace from Starr's moving sale that she had recently.
The colors are lovely. Just perfect. Wow, I really
don't have much to say.
Hmmm...but do stay tuned for tomorrow!
'Tis a special day for my lil'gimpy blog and we need to celebrate.
Just saying. Keep an eye out.

Until next time, ♥.

Frumpy Sweater

Oversized Sweater and Cream Oxford,Wolfe Street//Head Scarf, Goodwill//Upcycled Ceramic Brooch, Gift//
Patterned Leggings, ZARA in Spain//Knee-Highs, Burlington//Boots, Ebay//Earrings, Mid-Towne
 Considering today is officially a snow day (which was announced yesterday around 9pm),
this is by no means what I'm currently wearing. However, I thought I'd share yesterday's outfit.
A friend commented that I looked "cozy." I understood that to mean that I looked frumpy.
Thus, I'll probably be turning this sweater into an oversized "snood."
Eh, at least I tried to make it work.
 Last weekend wasn't all that fruitful in terms of thrift scores, but I did manage to snag this scarf.
I dare say it may just be my new favorite scarf.
The color scheme. The floral. The tapestry design. Pure bliss!
It embodies everything I'm into at the moment.

I finally got around to wearing this brooch Mango bought for me.
She gave me all sorts of goodies whenever I came back from Spain this past summer.
I believe this brooch was once a ceramic plate that was then upcycled into this gem.
I wouldn't mind making my own in the future. Hmmm...

Anyways, my snow day will be spent getting caught up on school work, Etsy listings, and maybe a few crafts?
I do have a Valentine's Day gift that I need to create! Oh dear.

How's everyone spending their snowpocalypse?
Until next time, ♥.

Samson's Bean Booth Update

 Check out our cool new stuffed sign!
It adds such a cool new vibe to our blossoming booth.

 I couldn't resist that adorable Muffy sweatshirt, hopefully it finds a good home!

 I think one of my most favorite things about the booth is dressing up the MANnequin and changing out the outfits on the wall. It's like playing with paperdolls, only better!

Of course, I always return to my first loves: shoes and purses!

Until next time, ♥.

Etsy Shop Update

I finally mustered the much needed Etsy shop update.
Check out all of the newly thrifted goodies that I would've hoarded for myself if my feet weren't so big!

There's also some cutesy handbags in the mix and I did a bunch of markdowns as well.
I'm kinda sorta sick of seeing my itty bitty room turn into a warehouse!
I have more stuff to list, but like I've said...I'm a lazy bum.

Until next time, ♥.

Uncommon Objects

 While I was in Austin, we visited perhaps the most "hip" antique mall ever (for me, at least)
by the name of Uncommon Objects located in the SoCo shopping district.
Unfortunately, we slipped inside when there was only 30 minutes left until closing time.
..........Thus the rushed/blurred photography.
It's very difficult to snap a decent photograph and scour simultaneously!
Please bear with me.
 I saw two of these babies in the entire antique mall. It creeps me out tremendously.
Not very practical...or affordable for that matter.

 Even though this is equally creepy, I looooove doll parts.
I was tempted to buy some doll limbs, but decided against it. I have enough junk in my life.

 I was mostly amazed by the impeccable organization and color-coordination of each booth.

 It appears as though each booth was carefully thought out and arranged.

 My only complaint would be the pricing, but then again, I'm terribly spoiled by my local thrift haunts.

Despite the high prices, I managed to dig up these beauties. Two keys, 6 bucks a pop.
A bit much for rusted metal, but I never come across these (yet).
I've already strung the skeleton key onto a chain making for a quick DIY necklace!

Check out Uncommon Objects for yourself next time you're in Austin!
It's definitely worth a look.

Until next time, ♥.

All Wrapped Up.

 I kept things simple this year.
Pretty sure I burned myself out last year trying to find multiple "perfect" gifts.
And, I think Christmas totally snuck up on me...tricky, tricky holiday!

 Gifts to friends were delivered yesterday.
I'm so ready to just chill, catch up on the blogosphere, and get fat (again!).
Should make for a nice holiday, though first I need to get some things ready for the booth.
It's already starting to look a little scarce and I'm sure people may come in to spend Christmas monies!

I found myself a skeleton key in a totally rad antique mall while I was in Austin!

->Cream Silk Blouse, Goodwill
->Homemade Leopard Print Skirt, Goodwill
->Skeleton Key, Uncommon Objects
->Red Cardigan, Half of Half
->Oxfords, Goodwill
->Plaid Scarf worn in hair, Gift from Mango
->Ring, ebay

Happy Holidays! Hope you have a good one.
Until next time, ♥.

Thrift Scores!

I can't help but gush about my latest thrift scores.
Silly ol' me just included shoes because well, I LOVE SHOESSSS!
(Especially when they fit.)
Etienne Aigner Oxford Grannies, Midtowne
Alas, these lovelies are much too small, so they'll be put up in the ol' Etsy shop soon.
I am already jealous of whoever ends up buying these!
Butternut Brown 80s Boots, Ebay
 These are mine! I recently won these on Ebay. In fact, I just received them in the mail yesterday.
Of course, that meant I had to give them a whirl today!
Absolutely perfect for the cold weather.
Cognac Woven Leather Oxfords, Goodwill
These cuties are too small. Watch for their debut on the Etsy.
I found these when I was sourcing pieces for my Hogwarts-esque outfit for the Midnight showing.
Yes, I dressed up. Yes, I was there at 8:30pm for the Midnight showing. Yes, I geeked out the entire time.
If you didn't already know, I'm a MEGA-dork.
G.H Bass & Co. Two-Tone Oxfords
Last, but not least, I found these when I was sourcing materials for my last 3D-Design Project.
They're in pristine condition anddd MY SIZE! Though, these babies will just have to wait for Spring.
I can't waittttt!

Scored anything awesome lately?
Until next time, ♥.

Down the Rabbit Hole.

 So Sunday my friend and I came across an estate sale that wouldn't open until 2pm,
thus we decided to kill time at a nearby Goodwill and Irish Pub.
I only bought three items, but they just so happen to work very nicely together.
Score? Mega-score!

 I am particularly fond of my newly acquired 100% Cashmere gramps-cardi.
I found it in the men's section!
Case in point: don't limit your thrifting to the ladies section.

Here's a closeup of my necklace.
D'awh! It's the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
Scored this one at the antique mall on Saturday for a dollar.
Score!

 I think the three items from Goodwill totaled around 10 bucks, not too shabby!
The lace shirt is scalloped, but hiding underneath the cardi and the floral-paisley pleated skirt.
The skirt didn't need to be hemmed.
I'm trying my best not to buy things that need alterations...because they usually sit in my closet.
Speaking of, I need to do alterations!

->Lace T-shirt, Goodwill
->Pleated Skirt, Goodwill
->Cashmere Cardigan, Goodwill
->White Rabbit Necklace, Midtowne Antique Mall
->Granny Fringe Black Boots, Ebay
->Beige Snakeskin Waistbelt, Wolfe Street
->Burgundy Beret, Gift

Until next time, ♥.

Lolita Rain Clouds

 My knit beret is hiding a frenzied cloud of curls,
though tufts of frizzies have still managed to escape.
I hate having to walk to class in the rain!
Side note: I found the dress in the little girl's section of Goodwill.
Never limit yourself to just the ladies section. Ever.
 Back on topic: Freezing rain is probably the worst. This gloom began yesterday.
At least I have an excuse to carry around this huge plaid umbrella!
It used to have all of these little burn holes that I mended with fabric bandages and clear nail polish.
The bite of the cold is also nasty reminder to go get my winter clothes.
For now, I will just have to pile on random layers and take mental wardrobe notes.
Looks like someone's going to take a thrift trip pronto!
->Cropped Trench, Goodwill
->Striped Navy Dress, Goodwill Kid's Section
->Leopard Print Cardigan, Ebay
->Burgundy Beret, Gift
->Black Fringe Boots, Ebay
->Black Printed Tights, TJ Maxx
->Huge Plaid Umbrella, Goodwill

Until next time, ♥.

Shades of Gray.

Sometimes you just wake up feeling a little monochromatic.
Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.
 I scored these lovelies at Wolfe Street a couple of weeks back. I was surprised that they fit me!
I bought a similar pair in a dusty blue color. Oh, I also don't wear heels. Like, ever.
I'm happy to report that I did not die.
Perhaps I'll venture a bit more into the territory o' heels.
Baby steps, dear! Baby steps.

->Dark gray knit beanie, Dollar Tree
->Feather Earrings, DIY
->Black Skinnies (in severe need of washing), Half of Half
->Gray Chunky Cable Knit Sweater, Goodwill
->Gray micro-suede Pumps, Wolfe Street

Side-note: Be sure to check out my interview on Another's Treasure.
I've been given the lovely honor of being Amanda's Thrifty Blogger of the Month!

Until next time, ♥.

Robble, Robble.

The Inspiration
Image via Portroids
Seriously racking my brain for inspiration since the beginning of September,
I was set to recreate something that was remotely obscure yet recognizable unless you've been under a rock your entire life. Once I came across this photograph, I was determined to make it my own. I take my costuming very seriously.
Robble, robble! I was to become the Hamburglar.
I figured it would be easy enough: stripes, cape, mask, burgers, and hat.
So, I made myself a shopping list  as a reminder to search around when I scoured my usual thrifting haunts.
Let's just say I had a great success!

The Execution
Thrifted finds plus felt embellishments.
My costume, all pinned and ready to be sewed and glued into place!
I got super fed up with the store-bought mask and decided to make my own.
Thus, we have...

My Interpretation

Costume Details:
->Extremely Oversized striped shirt, Wolfe Street ($1)
->Black Felt Wide Brim Fedora, My Favorite Thrift Store ($3)
->Black Bandage Skirt, XXI (Gift)
->Red Striped Tie, Goodwill ($1)
->Red Leather Boots, Ebay ($25)
->Shimmer Black Tights, Half of Half ($1)
->Skirt Altered into Black Cape, Savers ($3)
->Red Purse, Target
->Altered Red Gloves, Dollar Tree/DIY ($1)
->Black Mask and Felt Embellishments, DIY

All I need now is a Happy Meal.

Until next time, ♥.

In Need Of A Nap

 Skirts sans tights are no longer an option.
The current norm of easy breezy mornings chill me to the bone.
I'm still not satisfied with my current arsenal of fall pieces.
 Though, thrifting will have to be on the back-burner this weekend.
How else will I juggle my mind-numbing studies with all of the glorious Halloween festivities?
Time management? Pure luck? We shall see.
->Crop Trench Coat, Goodwill
->Leopard Print Scarf worn as Headwrap, Thrifted
->Grayish Blue Sweater, Goodwill
->Shell Necklace, Estate Sale
->Floral 90s Skirt, Savers
->Dusty Brown Dexter Boots, Savers
->Opaque Navy Tights, Half of Half

First, a nap.
Then, the final alterations on my costume.
After that, who knows.

Until next time, ♥.

I Stirrups Trouble.

A classmate gawked at my pants and chuckled,
"What are you wearing?!"

Stirrup pants, my "chic" alternative to sweats.
I didn't actually wear the hat. I threw it on last minute to take these photos.
The hat forms part of my Halloween costume, I still need to sew the ribbon on!

So, I guess this is a bit of a teaser. Any guesses?
The nice man at My Favorite Thrift Store guessed Freddy Krueger.
Uhmmm, no. Maybe next year?
->Heather Gray Stirrup Pants, Thrifted
->Dusty Brown Microsuede Boots, Thrifted
->Polka Dot Tank, H&M
->Denim Men's Western Shirt, Thrifted
->Felt Wide-Brim Fedora, My Favorite Thrift Store

Until next time, ♥.
