And Then I Disappeared.

I must apologize for my abrupt departure and subsequent negligence of my dear blog.

I might have forgotten to mention the art department field trip which was the reason for my absence. I was in Austin, Texas for the past 5 or so days. I had brought my netbook along, in hopes of blogging, but alas I did not want to pay the 10 bucks for wifi. Anywho, I'm back with tons of photos and business cards that need sorting and organizing and purging. Keep an eye out for that...and for the photos from Samson's Bean grand opening!

I hope to promptly get back on blogging schedule because there's so much for me to talk about!

Blue Tweed Princess Coat, Savers//Knit Beanie, Dollar Tree//Earrings, DIY//Gyarados Shirt, Savers//Studded Booties, Goodwill//Jeggings, TJ Maxx

Behold! The Gyarados Raglan Sleeve Shirt! I unearthed this gem in the depths of storage.
I originally thrifted it at Savers sometime in elementary school, you know...when pokémon was all the rage.
Alas, it was also a time when one could score an old tee for a mere 69 cents.

Oh hey! My finals are over, now I can stress over non-academia...more on that tomorrow.
I also need to pack for a field trip to Austin. I leave on Friday! EEEP!

Until next time, ♥.

Wrinkly Blues.

 Lessons learned today:
Simple tights do not suffice any more.
I must hem more dresses.
Unlined trench coats do not keep out the cold.
My shirt is embarrassingly wrinkly.

 Brrr...the cold is in full force.
But hey! School is almost out.
HUZZAH!

Featured.

image courtesy of Starr Crow
Woke up to a dismal downcast day. Cold and wet. Yuck yuck yuck.
But! There's nothing like being featured that can perk me right up.
Checking my email between class, I realized that I was getting more comments than usual.
The lovely and talented Starr of A Thought Is The Blossom posted photos from a recent shoot.
Head over to her blog to see even more impeccably shot photographs!
You may recognize the get-up from a recent outfit post...
but these pictures far surpass anything that I could accomplish
within the confines of my living room using my dinky remote and tripod.

Mmmm...I look a tad awkward (in a good way?). I'm camera shy around other people (again).
Though, hopefully there'll be more shoots with Starr in the future!

Until next time, ♥.

Foodie Fun: Pumpkin Cookies

 For my contribution to the Turkey Day grubbin', I decided to bake some cookies.
I decided to top them off with some cream cheese icing.

Needless to say, they are incredibly delicious.

Chumbawumba.

I can't get Tubthumping out of my head! It's become today's anthem.

So, I went to some estate sales with my buddy Mango on Sunday.
I picked up this CORAL cardi for $2.50, the weather's perfectly chilly now.
(Note: not pink, though...it looks really pink...yucky!!!)
Overall, they proved to be very fruitful. I haven't decided if that is good or bad.
I need to get my financial situation in check in order to properly decide.
Anyways, I have some exciting things in the works!

 I finally managed to list some of the goodies that I've accumulated over the last couple of weeks.
I've been scouring the thrift haunts nonstop; I was (still am) in need of the retail therapy.
Check out the ol' etsy shop...though, there's still more that needs to be added.

And, this week is packed with all sorts of activities!
Is it possible to overdose on cultural activities?
Because I'll be getting a heaping helping!

Broken Lens.

 I took these after breaking a lens. I was so bummed.
I'm still bummed about it.
 It quickly got too warm to wear my snuggly gramps cardi.
You can never rely on Arkansan weather, luckily I dress in layers.

Party Time.

 Ode to a Party Hat
I see you there, sitting atop the mind-numbing tube box.
You beckon me to experiment. You yearn to be photographed.
I give in. The purple printed tights demand it.
It's party time.

Can I get a finger snap?
 Oh, for the love of random props lying around the living room!
Somehow making things less awkward because I know a roomie might walk out any second.
I mean, you can't judge anyone in a party hat! You'd just be a party-pooper.
And no one likes a party-pooper.
Psycho-babbling courtesy of chronic sleep deprivation.

Then They Surfaced.

Photos from Halloween weekend have surfaced on the interwebs.
Oh me. Oh my. Good times!

Dancing to make up for all of my skipped dates to the gym!

Posing for another camera. A photo of the photo. A metaphoto!
Check out more of the nightly shenanigans on my photog-friend's website.

Lolita Rain Clouds

 My knit beret is hiding a frenzied cloud of curls,
though tufts of frizzies have still managed to escape.
I hate having to walk to class in the rain!
Side note: I found the dress in the little girl's section of Goodwill.
Never limit yourself to just the ladies section. Ever.
 Back on topic: Freezing rain is probably the worst. This gloom began yesterday.
At least I have an excuse to carry around this huge plaid umbrella!
It used to have all of these little burn holes that I mended with fabric bandages and clear nail polish.
The bite of the cold is also nasty reminder to go get my winter clothes.
For now, I will just have to pile on random layers and take mental wardrobe notes.
Looks like someone's going to take a thrift trip pronto!

Shades of Gray.

Sometimes you just wake up feeling a little monochromatic.
Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.
 I scored these lovelies at Wolfe Street a couple of weeks back. I was surprised that they fit me!
I bought a similar pair in a dusty blue color. Oh, I also don't wear heels. Like, ever.
I'm happy to report that I did not die.
Perhaps I'll venture a bit more into the territory o' heels.
Baby steps, dear! Baby steps.

In Need Of A Nap

 Skirts sans tights are no longer an option.
The current norm of easy breezy mornings chill me to the bone.
I'm still not satisfied with my current arsenal of fall pieces.
 Though, thrifting will have to be on the back-burner this weekend.
How else will I juggle my mind-numbing studies with all of the glorious Halloween festivities?
Time management? Pure luck? We shall see.
->Crop Trench Coat, Goodwill
->Leopard Print Scarf worn as Headwrap, Thrifted
->Grayish Blue Sweater, Goodwill
->Shell Necklace, Estate Sale

First, a nap.
Then, the final alterations on my costume.
After that, who knows.

Cardboard Zombie Update!

 After a month or so of toiling away at this cardboard zombie installation
IT'S FINALLY DONE.
Here the almost 8-foot head is being transported from the Applied Arts building
to its new home in front of the Fine Arts building.
Pretty massive, eh?!
 The hand arriving to location. Isn't she a beaut?!
I'm inclined to like this piece a little more than everything else.

 After figuring out where to place everything and hammering it into the ground with stakes,
our cardboard zombie is installed!
Several local media outlets came by to take photos and take video of us at work.
Here my teacher is being interviewed for a segment on that night's 10 o'clock news.
EPIC! Just in time for Halloween.

Until next time, ♥.

The Butcher's Daughter Treasure Trove

Just a quickie installment of the treasure trove!
Obviously I still have my Lady Gaga Meat costume on the brain.
I guess having it hanging up on my wall doesn't help matters much.
I just can't help it. It's so much fun!
This would work as an unusual Halloween costume, squirts of blood added separately.

School Work Blues.

I seriously can't get enough of these boots.
Though, I need to be careful. Arkansas is starting to be fickle weather-wise again.
I guess I should buy some weather-proofing shoe spray? Does that even exist?
I tend to make things up.

Alone and bored. Procrastinating, per usual.
There is so much that needs to be done that I get overwhelmed and well, I don't accomplish much.

 ->Dusty Brown Suede Boots, thrifted
->Red abstract print skirt, thrifted
->Cream tank, H&M in Spain
->Dark Denim Jacket, Charlotte Russe Clearance Rack

This photo sums up how I feel inside. One can't always keep their composure!
I've spent the majority of this weekend trying to get as much reading, papers, etc. done for following two weeks.
This is mainly because I don't want to do any schoolwork the weekend of Halloween.
Oh school, why must you torture me so?
Let's hope my plan pans out accordingly.

Until next time, ♥.

Entrenched.

I thrifted this cropped trench over the weekend at Goodwill for a mere 8 bucks.
Classic fall staple? Why, yes please!

A quick combination of the thrifted and the European.
I wore this to play photographer after I finished doing my little sister's hair and makeup for homecoming.
Needless to say, it was not a paying gig.
My sister found the craziest contraption to curl her hair, a dangerous one at that.
I nearly burned myself a couple of times, warranting an expletive or two.
Too much work for me, I would always rely on something fancy to stick in my hair.
Basically what I still do now.

->Watercolor Print Scarf worn in Hair, Estate Sale
->Blue Chambray Oxford, Thrifted

->Gray Cropped Shirt, Mango

Contained.

Shhhhhh....
Don't tell anyone, but I neglected to do my hair.
Instead, I opted to hide it under my favorite beanie.
My friend knit it for my birthday. I wore it then, even if it was too hot.
Now it's not nearly as hot and I can get away with hiding bedhead.

Scraggly curls still managed to peek from underneath,
giving away that I would rather sleep a few more minutes than do my hair.

->Floral grunge dress, Thrifted
->Army fatigue shirt, Thrifted
->Peachy Knit Beanie, Birthday Gift
->Ankle Bootie Moccasins, Thrifted
