Then They Surfaced.

Photos from Halloween weekend have surfaced on the interwebs.
Oh me. Oh my. Good times!

Dancing to make up for all of my skipped dates to the gym!

Posing for another camera. A photo of the photo. A metaphoto!
Check out more of the nightly shenanigans on my photog-friend's website.

Robble, Robble.

The Inspiration
Image via Portroids
Seriously racking my brain for inspiration since the beginning of September,
I was set to recreate something that was remotely obscure yet recognizable unless you've been under a rock your entire life. Once I came across this photograph, I was determined to make it my own. I take my costuming very seriously.
Robble, robble! I was to become the Hamburglar.
I figured it would be easy enough: stripes, cape, mask, burgers, and hat.
So, I made myself a shopping list  as a reminder to search around when I scoured my usual thrifting haunts.
Let's just say I had a great success!

The Execution
Thrifted finds plus felt embellishments.
My costume, all pinned and ready to be sewed and glued into place!
I got super fed up with the store-bought mask and decided to make my own.
Thus, we have...

My Interpretation

->Extremely Oversized striped shirt, Wolfe Street ($1)
->Black Felt Wide Brim Fedora, My Favorite Thrift Store ($3)
->Black Bandage Skirt, XXI (Gift)
->Red Striped Tie, Goodwill ($1)

->Shimmer Black Tights, Half of Half ($1)

All I need now is a Happy Meal.

The Butcher's Daughter Treasure Trove

Just a quickie installment of the treasure trove!
Obviously I still have my Lady Gaga Meat costume on the brain.
I guess having it hanging up on my wall doesn't help matters much.
I just can't help it. It's so much fun!
This would work as an unusual Halloween costume, squirts of blood added separately.

I Stirrups Trouble.

A classmate gawked at my pants and chuckled,
"What are you wearing?!"

Stirrup pants, my "chic" alternative to sweats.
I didn't actually wear the hat. I threw it on last minute to take these photos.
The hat forms part of my Halloween costume, I still need to sew the ribbon on!

So, I guess this is a bit of a teaser. Any guesses?
The nice man at My Favorite Thrift Store guessed Freddy Krueger.
Uhmmm, no. Maybe next year?
->Heather Gray Stirrup Pants, Thrifted
->Dusty Brown Microsuede Boots, Thrifted
->Polka Dot Tank, H&M
->Denim Men's Western Shirt, Thrifted
->Felt Wide-Brim Fedora, My Favorite Thrift Store

Until next time, ♥.

Finished: Gaga Meat Costume

I'm not sure of how many of you reading are Lady Gaga fans, but when my friend mentioned a Lady Gaga/David Bowie theme party...I couldn't resist. So, do you like my felt steak fascinator?

I don't have many opportunities to go to theme parties or really any college parties for that matter.
I had forgotten just how much fun I have putting together a costume!

Anyways, I'm sure most know about Gaga's meat dress at the VMAS (which I didn't actually watch),
but few are aware of her meat-clad cover for Vogue Hommes Japan

I set to work on my rendition of her meat couture, swapping out meat for felt.
Since I'm rather demure when it comes to nudity, I attached the felt to a nude bodysuit. Alas, I do not recommend pinning/hot gluing pieces when you're wearing the actual garment!
After layering two pairs of tights, gobs of cheap gold necklaces, and red lipstick, I was good to go party the night away...but not without first hiding myself under my newly thrifted trench
I became more bold once the other Gagas emerged from the cracks.

I couldn't help but get miffed every time someone said they liked my meat dress.
Note: This is not my Halloween costume! I have something else in the works.
And we'll just leave it at that. For now.

Until next time, ♥.

Aviatrix Treasure Trove.

Here is another installment of the Treasure Trove. I actually made this one a while back, but hey, it still works for some good ol' Halloween inspiration! Not only was Amelia Earhart a freaking badass, she had an impeccable sense of style that translates nicely into modernity. You could easily get away with wearing a similar outfit to class and not get eyeballed strangely...well, maybe if you had on those jodhpurs.
