Sketchbook Diaries: Introducing the Forgotten.

 I run into my former art teacher from high school all of the time at the Art Center because we both take classes there. Last week, she surprised me with my IB Visual Arts Sketchbooks. As a part of my graduation requirements, I was to keep and fully fill a sketch book both my Junior and Senior year of high school. They are to be kept for a year post-graduation in case something funky comes up and the IBO needs to verify something. 

Anyways, I'm glad to have them back.

They're the closest things that I have to a scrapbook. 

Flipping through the pages, I was shocked by some of the things I included. 

So many memories.

 The growth I experienced from one year to the next is incredible.

My Senior sketchbook completely blows away my Junior one.

You live and you learn.

Pet Rocks.

When I mentioned shopping for a pet rock, I was referring to the cabochon that I need for the big project in my jewelry-making class. I had to skip out on the lapidarist visit last Monday because of school work, but fortunately there was a big Gem Rock show at a community center here in Central Arkansas on Saturday. 

 So many pretty rocks! I had a hard time choosing just one. It also didn't help that I wanted to be in and out so that I could return and do some homework before my outing at the symphony that night.

 I also picked up 3 grab-bags of assorted misshapen rocks. Not sure what to do with them yet. Typical.

 Meet my pet rocks; Dichroic glass, Rainbow Calsilica, and Peruvian Opal.

I finally decided on these three lovelies from Designer Cabochons. The lady wrote the names of each one on their respective baggies. That way, I can totally geek out and name the stone that I will eventually be "rockin'."

 See what I did there?

Transformers.

 Today's casual outfit. Opted for jeans because it's always freezing inside of the art center.

I volunteered there today for their "Family Fiesta" event.

I spent a good chunk of the day helping kiddies weave construction paper into a flag. 

So many kids. I forget how much kids can suck the life out of you. It was so great!

 As soon as I was done with that, I rushed back to my apartment to get fancied up for my friend's wedding.

I love this dress so much. I saw it on the racks in Spain and had to have it. I didn't even try it on! Luckily it fits like a dream. The material is absolutely fantastic and the heather gray is very low-key.

Plus, it makes it that much easier for the hot date to color-coordinate!!!

It was an absolutely fantastic wedding, even if I was kind of forced to stand in line to catch the bouquet.

Though my height gave me an advantage over the other unmarried gals, my lack of interest defeated me.

I think my finger might've touched it, but another gal went all Michael Jordan on me and jumped for the win.

Silly girls. Oh, and I burned my thumb trying to light a sparkler. That was good for laughs.

Silly Hammer Pants.

I actually bought these months back when the manager's special was 2-for-1 at Savers. I bought them along with these fabulous khakis and was charged for the price of the cheaper pair! This, however, is the first time that I've worn these Hammeresque pants. So, of course, this calls for a silly set of outfit photos.

Yeah, I have no idea.

 I think I'm testing the billow-bility of the pants.

Soldier Boy.

My room is in complete and utter disarray, but I'm a wimp that gets embarrassed about taking outfit photos in the living room, especially if there are other roomies present. Thus, here I am...amongst the chaos.

In other news: check out what I made yesterday in my jewelry-making class!

I know, I know...it doesn't look like much, YET! We basically got to play around with torches and melting copper and silver and fusing them together to make a pile of icky goodness. Oh, and then I used a handsaw to cut out what will eventually become earrings. Man, I feel like such a badass. I can't wait to learn more!

I shall clean up shop this weekend. I kind of have to...room inspections take place Sunday night!

Oh well, all the clutter gets me antsy and clutters my brain in the process, which would explain my lack of productivity this week. This weekend is going to be a doozy.

Good news! Tomorrow night I will be starting an Introduction to Jewelry-Making course at the local Arts Center. I'm really pretty stinkin' excited. Though the price was somewhat steep for my taste, an unexpected refund check helped to offset the costs. I figure it will be an invaluable asset to my future in the scheme of things. I have so much to learn! I barely know anything, but I'm so willing to learn.

I can't wait. I can't wait. 

I hope I'm in there with a bunch o' cute lil' ol' ladies. 

(I already picked out what I'm going to wear...is that dorky?)
